I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

Well, today is all about a game changer, the game changer of life.

It's something that God showed me back in 2012 that absolutely changed the

course of my life forever. had just released a book called

Whole, which told a lot about my life growing up as a pastor's daughter, and some of the

hard things our family went through in that.

And it was difficult for several reasons, one of which was that it was a story that hadn't been

told publicly like that for almost 20 years. My father was still living at the time. And I wanted to

honor him and honor the church in the very public telling of a very public, for lack of a better way to say it,

fall from grace, but neither the church nor my father was without responsibility in the situation

or the way it was handled. And in the end, I wound up writing this book twice. I threw the first

version, 55,000 words in the trash and started

over if you can believe it. A little insider information about that book, actually, I wound up

writing chapter one seven times, seven versions of the same until the eighth time I finally

scrapped all those versions and wrote a new version, and that was the one we went

with. Just a really tough book to write. But I was in a place that I had released this book whole

into the world, and yet at the same time, I felt very broken. And so that made me feel very fraudulent

as an author. It was like the more God had begun to heal me, the more he began to reveal to me things that needed to change.

I know you understand this, many of you listening.

And there was just a lot of digging out, and it began to be very uncomfortable.
