being hungry, being angry, being lonely, and being tired and how all of those affect

your anxiety. So the acronym is Holt and I'm borrowing today from 12-step

wisdom and offer the Holt acronym for helping you to keep your nervous system from jumping into overdrive.

Yes, we can actually make a difference by what we pay attention to and paying attention to our

self-care and to how we feel, where we're at in the present moment, being aware of these four areas of our lives, we can

really take our self-care that we should be practicing every day.

You know, maybe now you're even just learning some new self-care habits.

They just, once they become a habit, you don't even think of the word self-care anymore.

It's just part of your life.

But our lives have become so off track in this day and age that we have to have a term for what we're doing.

So, you know keeping an awareness on these four areas in

our lives we really can take this self-care to an even higher level. You know many times and I'm included in this we

think we're superhuman right we can do one more project we can make one more project. We can make one more call, send one more email, drive the kids to one more play date, whatever it is. We think we're superhuman and we can do one more thing. We just, no matter how much we get done, we're going to do more. Let me just do a little more.

But this is not taking care of ourselves. When we feel that we need something, that's self-care by answering that need. Now obviously, if we're parents of young children we have there's a

hierarchy of needs that has to happen and you know as a as a parent you're happy to

do that but you still have to carve out time at some place in the day on a daily basis,

to be aware of what your needs are and where you are at at this particular moment.

Because I want you to be aware that being hungry, angry, lonely, and tired over time will create new and destructive habits.
