In this episode, we're going to talk about the problem of runaway youth and what teachers

can do to help.

Because our work is to serve and teach kids, any issue that impacts kids has the potential

to impact our work.

For that reason, I'm devoting this episode to learning more about the problem of runaway

youth.

I'm interviewing Maureen Blaha, Executive Director of the National Runaway Safe Line,

to learn about how running away impacts kids, what teachers and parents can do to help

prevent the problem, and what resources are available for kids who have runaway.

The episode will be fairly short, but it's valuable stuff to know.

Because I have never known anyone personally who has runaway, I really wasn't aware of

how significant the problem was.

I also never really thought much about the long-term consequences of running away.

Anyone who works with kids should have a basic understanding of this issue and where

to go for more information.

The more awareness we can build with this information, the better off our kids will be.
