It sounds like a dangerous expression.

But actually what it means is I am not going to change what I believe.

I am going to continue doing what I said I would do. I'm not going to stop. So why does stick to my guns mean refuse to change your beliefs or ideas.

Well, imagine this.

Imagine you are a soldier and you're in war and you're fighting the enemy,

but you see, you can sense that you will lose.

The enemy will win.

Do you give up?

Or do you keep holding your gun and continue fighting?
