Summary

Our beliefs shape our actions. The problem is, this can stop us reaching our potential. What do you believe that's holding you back? Maybe something you were repeatedly told at school, or by your parents, or by the media, or government, or a friend, or a coach you once had...? Today I want you to challenge what you believe to be true, and give you a simple technique to use to get to the truth of your beliefs, otherwise they might continue to hold you back...

Hey everyone, Ben Cooper Radio, episode number 586. I hope you are well. Yes, if you're not, let's

0:09.5

look to change that because that is ultimately what we should all be doing. We don't like something if we can

0:14.6

change it let's change it and that's going to be the focus of today's show

0:19.5

beliefs, our beliefs and potentially how they hold us back. Now let's set the scene. You've

0:28.9

been listening to maybe this podcast for quite some time.

0:33.6

You've been learning about the body,

0:35.9

about the mind, about getting fitter,

0:38.2

0:40.5

But you've reached a ceiling, you've hit a limit, you've hit a plateau, you can't seem to go any further.

0:47.0

0:59.9

deep. They run deep in our psyche, they are part of our emotions, they are part of our

1:07.4

subconscious brain, they're part of our wiring, and if we think about some of the beliefs that are really deep they're

1:17.4

quite often the beliefs that our parents gave us from our childhood from our

1:22.0

environment at school, maybe someone that was, that you were around a lot when

1:28.0

you were younger that you know had quite an impression on you maybe a particular teacher or friend and they helped shape

1:36.1

your belief system. The thing is these beliefs can get in the way. If we think about, let's use the topic of something

1:45.9

that we've been talking on the podcast recently, the topic of age and hormones.

1:51.6

If we believe our hormones are responsible for us gaining weight, then how much

2:01.5

action will we take to even challenge or disprove that and see if there is an alternative.

2:09.6

Because if we already believe it, then we're not going to take action to challenge it.

2:14.7

It's deep within us, we believe it.

2:17.4

We know it to be true, whether it's true or not.
