In today's episode, I want to talk about

depression during the winter months.

And I brought this up because I've received a lot of mail recently about feeling depressed on top of being anxious.

So I thought maybe we could talk first a little bit about why that's all happening and then a little bit

about what you can do especially to prepare for next year but you can also do some of those things still this year. I'm

recording this at the end of January so for the most part people who are

sending mail-in about being depressed it you know, you've been in the winter for long enough that your body is feeling the lack of sunshine.

So when the weather is cold and the skies are cloudy and dark, it's really easy to

feel down and it's really understandable if you're already anxious and a lot of your

energy is already going to anxiety that you can start to get tired and feel down and despondent.

So if you struggle with gloomy feelings during the winter,

it's good to know that this doesn't last forever. And that's what I want you to keep top of mind right now.

At the end of January or February, whenever this a little bit of hope and a reminder that this dark gloomy weather is not going to be here

forever. Now it may not be so dark and gloomy where you are but the days are probably shorter and you

are getting maybe a little less sunshine. We're all different in how that can

affect us. Some people, a slight change, can affect them.

We here in Hawaii have less of a change in our sunlight in the length of our sun during the day as I did in New York when I lived in a more northern climate.

But people here can still feel the difference if you've lived here long enough.
