Welcome to move the sticks. I'm Bucky Brooks and today, unfortunately, I'm flying solo,

but we will hear from my partner, Daniel Jeremiah a little later.

He is going to join the Danny Atomlison and they're going to have an interview with

Kenan Allen that you hear later in the pod. But I am going to talk about this Buddha Baker

extension. And I'm going to talk about it before we get to an interview that I did with

Steve Mary Euchie and the bill, I kind of want to bring up the Buddha Baker thing because

I think we have had conversations about safety position, the value of the safety position

and stuff. And because you and I love to talk about personnel and stuff like that, I think

it's important for you to just kind of outline what the Arizona cardinals do with Buddha Baker.

I saw they sound to an extent, but give me the terms.

So the terms are a four year, $59 million extension. It's a 14.75 million average and it's

33.1 million guaranteed.

That's a lot of money on the bill. That's a lot of money. And I know, um, safeties are valued

differently by different organizations based on how they play in a scheme. But for Buddha

Baker to be the highest paid safety, um, at 14.75 over Eddie Jackson and Kevin Baird and

Tyron Matthew and Lenin Collins, to me, it's just what I think is a changing of the tide

at the position for so long when we thought about safeties and the safeties yet get paid,

we focus primarily on their ability to get the ball back, meaning the ability to get

interceptions, uh, to create some kind of, uh, takeaways for the defense. Buddha Baker

has zero career interceptions yet he's the highest paid safety in the game. And I think

what that speaks to is the changing nature of the position, um, a month ago or a couple

...
