Hey everyone, welcome back to So Money. I'm your host, Farnoosh Terabi. Hope you're having an excellent day.

I'm excited to welcome our first couple, married couple to the show, The Amazing Mark and Lauren Grutman. They're the

co-founders of a personal finance website entitled Mark and Lauren G.com.

Having gone through financial hardships, they're now on a mission to spread the word about money and financial health.

The things they wish they had known many years ago.

I love their story, their tenacity and determination, so inspirational. Actually, why their couple begins in their 20s when like many of us they developed a dream of what

their ideal life would be and they pursued it with full force. They went on

wild shopping sprees, acquired designer clothes, luxury cars, they purchased a 3200 square foot home, custom built

home, built with all new furnishings, and that's not all. They hired a nanny and a personal

assistant, and even though they both worked full time and

were successful in their careers, they're spending outpaced their income and

drove them into debt. You know, it's not uncommon for me to hear from people writing in saying, I make six figures, and I'm drowning in debt and I'm overspending and I don't have enough to save.

The result for Lauren and Mark was a mortgage that fell underwater, a car that got towed away, $40,000 in credit card debt, and a $1,000 a month deficit in the family budget.

Fortunately, they found ways to quickly dig themselves out of that hole
