Hey everyone, welcome back to the show.

Earlier in the summer, I had reporter Nancy Scola on the show to discuss how ideas work in Washington during a period where, since there are so many open questions in American politics and the overall world, a lot of ambitious figures that started attaching

themselves to them.

So we talked about a bunch of different big ideas, everything from antitrust to abundance

and how we can understand the debates in 2025 through that lens.

Last week, we had the abundance conference.

We had the National Conservatism Conference, and this

week we had the Anti-Monopoly Conference by the American Economic Liberties Project.

Nancy was at the Abundance Conference, and she was at the Anti-Monopoly Conference, so I thought

this would be a perfect time to look at this trifecta of different events through the lens of what ideas

are rising and falling in Washington right now.

We also get into the politics of performance and how these big ideas actually translate

into effective political moves and articulations of candidates when voters are clearly looking

for change.

I should also note that during the lead-up

to this episode, I saw a tweet where Nancy explicitly said she came away from the Abundance Conference

not quite knowing what the idea was given out what everything was. So I took this as a personal

opportunity to sort of give the case for always understanding what abundance is pitch is in the

context of all these different
