And I'm Rob ranking all the emperors from Augustus to Augustulus, and we're on episode 57, and it is none other than Licinius.

Licinius. He's the least we've heard of, isn't he?

Since we've covered all the others, and we've only got Constantine left. Yes. But no, I know what you mean. You haven't heard much for me. He entered late, didn't he? Where did he come from, sort of thing? Yeah, well, we'll find out. He swerved in from the side. He did, he did. Or was he there all along? In the Sh shadows? So he was born in approximately 263.

Oh, okay. No. But yet again, it was probably of lowly origin in the same Danube area as most of those other emperors have been recently. In Licinius's case, it was Upper Moesia, which is nice. It's lovely in the spring. Yes. At some point, he joined the army. And he worked his way up with the ladder. Wow, how'd you know that?

I don't know. Just a feeling. It will actually stop soon. It really will.

Okay. Yeah, he joined the army. He worked his way up the ladder and he became friends with another

rising star, Galerius. I've heard of him. Yeah. When Diocletian took the throne, he would

have been rising through those ranks.

Quick smart. In 293, when his friend became Caesar, Galerius, he would have started to move in powerful circles.

There's some indication that he did very well during the war against the Persians with Galerius.

Do you remember when Galerius ambushed and managed to get Valerian back? Yeah. Yes. Well, I say that. I remember doing my notes and thinking, oh, this is the one where they found the stuffed. That didn't actually happen, did it? Yes, it did. Yes, it did. Definitely did. They carried him, dragged him through the desert. Yeah.
