Summary
Imagine walking into a pitch-black room; you cannot see anything until you bring a light with you. Life works much the same way: the world does not inherently possess beauty or ugliness, but rather reflects the light we carry inside us. In this episode, we will explore how nurturing your inner beauty acts as a lamp, allowing you to find grace and wonder even in the darkest of times.

| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. Do you ever wonder why someone, |
| 0:09.3 | maybe even you, can see things so differently, not based upon what's happening, but based |
| 0:15.8 | upon what's happening inside of you? We actually experience this all the time. We're just not always aware of it. |
| 0:23.2 | Let's say we had a good day at work. We got some compliments from our boss. We had a pleasant drive to |
| 0:28.8 | work. Traffic was good. We had a nice lunch. And just an overall good day. When we get home, |
| 0:35.8 | the house is a little messy. We don't even notice. We just go in, |
| 0:40.1 | hug our family, and all is well with the world. But then something happens to our world. Another |
| 0:46.5 | day isn't a good day. Traffic was bad. We got in trouble at work. We're exhausted. We didn't even |
| 0:53.6 | sleep well that night. |
| 0:55.6 | And when we get home, the first thing we notice is what a mess our house looks like. |
| 1:01.2 | What is wrong with our family? |
| 1:03.1 | And we go right inside and we give them a peace of our mind. |
| 1:07.2 | I want to use a metaphor to help understand this type of behavior that we all engage in better. |
| 1:13.1 | I really like Spelunking that's exploring caves. |
| 1:17.1 | If you've ever been in a cave, when they turn off all the lights, it is pitch dark. |
| 1:22.7 | So let's imagine we're in that cave. |
| 1:25.2 | If we're with a guide, they may pull out a red light, and the red light |
| 1:28.9 | will make everything look red, because we're shining red on everything. Pretty simple. But if we |
| 1:35.5 | pull out a white light, a bright white light, everything will have color because it will highlight |
| 1:41.1 | all the different colors in the cave. Now with the red light we might see perhaps |
| 1:46.8 | monsters and demons inside the cave. It can be terrifying. But when we point our white light at these |
| 1:54.4 | same objects, they look harmless. They even look beautiful. So whatever type of light we're using |
