get breast implants every year, including 300,000

for cosmetic reasons, and 100,000 for reconstruction

after mastectomies perform to treat or prevent breast cancer.

Worldwide, about 10 million women have breast implants.

But there may be some unintended consequences

of having a medical device, such as a breast implant,

in your body for the long haul, and we are going to talk

about that over the next hour.
