Flu season in the U.S. starts in October, and the vaccine takes about two weeks to become effective.

It's covered for free under many health insurance plans, and it's typically $30 or less if it's not covered.

It's important to note that the reason we get flu vaccines is not to protect ourselves, but to protect the vulnerable people in our lives,

like the elderly, young children, and the sick.

During the 2018-2019 flu season, between 36,000 and 61,000 people in the U.S. died from the flu.

If everyone who could get vaccinated did so, there would be many fewer deaths.

So go get poked.
