You know, just before we started recording, we both saw that George Clooney had written some sort of

an article calling for Joe Biden to step down. And so, like, I'm looking for it. I'm Googling it.

And when I search his name, the first thing that comes up is a Newsweek headline that says,

George Clooney breaks silence on Joe Biden campaign. I don't know why that tickles me so much. It's very, very funny.

Well, I love the idea that like George Clooney, first of all, that his opinion matters about this at all.

But like, secondly, has anybody been sitting around being like, when will George Clooney break his silence?

When's Clooney going to weigh in? No, but I love the idea that George Clooney writing this in the Times is itself a news event. It's like Newsweek is writing an article. Variety has one. I was having trouble getting around the Times paywall. And actually, I was originally thinking we'd begin by talking about something else. But, you know, we're here. The mics are on. We would have had this

conversation anyway. We might as well include it in the podcast. George Clooney writes, oh, and by the way,

Mr. Clooney is an actor, director, and film producer, according to his byline in the New York Times.

I'll check out his work. I'm a lifelong Democrat. I make no apologies for that. I'm proud of what my party represents and what it stands for.

As part of my participation in the democratic process and in support of my chosen candidate,

I have led some of the biggest fundraisers in my party's history. That's part of part of the democratic process right there.

Yeah, and he lists them off. And by the way, it's funny because... Shucks, he's just a citizen

helping out. I was thinking back to 2016, where I cluny was doing, you know, because Clooney,

Clooney was a big hack for Hillary back, you know, back then. And I remember like after he did

something, you know, $5,000 plate dinner for Hillary or something, Bernie Sanders had been criticizing, you know, Clinton's big

fundraisers, including in some interview was asked about. And he's like, you know, Bernie Sanders

makes a point about these like big fundraisers. You know, he's right. It's completely ridiculous.

Anyway, uh, that view apparently since revised to this is just my participation in the Democratic

process. He continues. Last month, I co-hosted the single largest

fundraiser supporting any Democratic candidate ever for President Biden's reelection. I say all of this

only to express how much I believe in this process and how profound I think this moment is.
