Summary

The term "custom rifle" is grossly overused. Just because a rifle is purchased from a gun builder and not off the shelf at your local store, doesn't mean it is a "custom" rifle. And that isn't a bad thing. There are a ton of good rifle builders who build fantastic non-custom rifles. Semantics aside, this all matters because you — as a customer who may spend thousands of your hard-earned dollars — need to understand the differences and nuances in how rifles are built. We discuss these topics, and more, in today's podcast with Andrew from Tenacity Arms. Welcome to the Huntback Country podcast. This is episode number 541.

0:20.4

And today our guest is Andrew from Tenacity Arms.

0:25.1

Tenacity is a new company, and they're doing something a bit different in the precision

0:29.8

hunting rifle and firearms space, and that's what we get into today with Andrew. I wanted to

0:35.8

have this conversation because what Tenacity is doing, as I said, today with Andrew. I wanted to have this conversation because what

0:38.0

tenacity is doing, as I said, is different, but I wanted to have a broader conversation on

0:43.5

kind of some transparency around the higher end rifle world. There's a common term of custom

0:50.8

rifle that gets thrown around a lot when in all reality many of these quote unquote

0:56.9

custom rifles are not custom at all that's not to say that they're bad they're just not custom rifles

1:02.5

so in terms of many rifle builders they're taking high quality high end components and they're

1:08.1

doing some assembly for you they They're putting the pieces together

1:11.2

and then they're delivering a quote-unquote custom rifle that yeah is maybe custom aesthetically

1:17.5

in the sense that you picked some colors or patterns or sarah coat. But it's not truly a custom

1:24.8

rifle in many cases. And again, I don't think this is bad. I just think there

1:28.9

needs to be some clarity around this. Tenacity is a bit different in the sense that they are a very

1:35.6

high-end precision rifle that they're just flat out saying isn't custom. They're using pre-fit

1:42.9

barrels. They're using a standard selection of components,

1:46.5

they have a limited offering, and what this allows them to do is to build a very high-quality

1:53.1

rifle at a solid price point and also with outstanding lead times. This isn't a commercial

2:00.1

for tenacity. Again, my goal with this was to

2:02.5

have a conversation with Andrew to learn about the company, but also to help educate you guys

2:08.5

as customers if you're looking to spend several thousand dollars on a rifle and to just know
