Summary

Let’s just say we’re coming in hot this week before Christmas on Pardon the Mess

We’ve got worship leader, songwriter, mom, and wife Kari Jobe with us today.

I’m guessing when she began leading worship in her church at thirteen years old, she couldn’t have imagined the songs of faith she would have the opportunity to sing across the globe in the coming years. Her newest song, The Blessing, is no exception to the remarkable work God is doing through her voice and career.

I love our conversation today about how her parents taught her at an early age about the importance of hearing the voice of God. She shares how they would practice hearing from God and the impact that continues to have on her music today.

Kari also talks about a very difficult time she experienced with postpartum depression and how she was led to audibly speak God’s truth over her home and her own life. During this hard time, God gave her a very simple truth: my nature is good.

I’m struck by how much we all need that same reminder today—that God’s nature is good, even when the things around us feel bad.

As you’re running all of those last-minute Christmas errands, tune in for this great conversation with Kari Jobe!

And then go put her song “The Blessing” on repeat for the rest of 2020.

It's real, it's fun, and it's biblical. Life is messy. Don't walk the parenting road alone.

Hey guys, welcome to Pardon the Mess. I'm glad you're with us today. It is the week before

0:36.2

Christmas. And I'm just wondering, have you gotten everything

0:38.5

done? Are you ready? I'm running around frantically because I'm always last minute. And this year,

0:44.1

even with a different kind of Christmas, with lots less in the terms of activities, I still feel behind.

0:50.5

But here's the other thing. I'm wondering. And I'm talking to you as if I can hear a response,

0:54.4

but you can go ahead and answer out loud in your car, wherever you are. Let's just pretend this is

0:58.4

between the two of us conversation. Do you end up finding out all the gifts like that your

1:03.1

family or your husband is buying for you? Because there's just, I've decided no way to really

1:08.0

surprise me. And I think maybe it's that way for most moms.

1:12.0

And let me give you an example. Like I can always tell because my husband, who is a great gift

1:16.3

giver, by the way, but he like will start asking instead of like taking notes throughout the

1:20.7

year of things that I might mention or whatever, he'll start asking right the week before or two

1:25.5

weeks before. I can tell he's getting frantic. And he starts asking me questions or he'll, you know, just randomly be like, remind me what

1:31.6

size shoe you wear. I was just thinking about that the other day. I'm like, oh, okay, I see

1:35.8

where we're going. And then this is what happened yesterday so that I can fully underscore this

1:41.4

point. My husband thought he lost his wallet, so he's panicking.

1:45.3

And so I said, well, just look on our bank account and see if, you know, anything,

1:48.1

any charges have been on our debit card or whatever.
