0:00.0 | Welcome to the Strong Women Podcast, where we explore a deeper understanding of the humanity, |
0:07.0 | value, intellect, and creativity of women. |
0:11.0 | I'm your host, Erin Kunkel. |
0:13.0 | And I'm your co-host, Sarah Stone Street. |
0:19.0 | Today on the Strong Women Podcast, Aaron and I went back through some of our older episodes and pulled out times when our guests have talked about their dads. |
0:29.5 | Us girls are influenced by our dads. |
0:32.7 | And so we wanted to take a moment just to talk about dads and celebrate Father's Day with you all, our listeners. |
0:41.2 | But one thing that we talk a lot about on the podcast is that we are pro men. |
0:48.2 | And I say that, and I have to say that, because in our cultural moment, to be a strong woman normally means that you're |
0:58.1 | pushing down the men around you, that it's a zero-sum game. And if you're going to rise, you have to |
1:03.4 | step over and step on these men that are keeping you down. And we just do not believe that on this podcast. |
1:12.5 | We think and really strongly believe that scripture tells us that we were designed |
1:19.1 | to work in friendship together for the kingdom of God. |
1:22.8 | And that when men are living out their design as God intended it in a healthy way, and they're finding |
1:30.1 | their identity in Christ, they're not threatened by the women around them, and they're able to |
1:34.7 | see giftings in the women around them and encourage them in it. And the same is true for women, |
1:40.2 | when we are living out our design in a healthy way and we are seeking to find our |
1:46.7 | identity in Christ, then we also are able to see the giftings and the strength as a good thing |
1:54.2 | in the men around us, and we can work in friendship. |
1:57.8 | I'm so appreciative of the men in our lives that have called us out and have |
2:04.0 | recognized the giftings that God has placed on our lives. And my dad is definitely one of those |
2:11.4 | men in my life. And John, who is the dad to my babies, he is also one of those men in my life. |
