What I want to consider with you now are three things that happen if you've lost your awe.

There are things, temptations that sort of fall out of this big central thing.

And I do think that they are much more present in ministry than we would give them the credit

for being.

Here's the first thing, fear.

Maybe the dirty secret of the church is how much of ministry is not shaped by faith in God,

not shaped by theological commitment, not shaped by a divine sense of calling, not shaped by a divine sense of calling,

not shaped by a desire to be part of what God is doing in the lives of others,

but shaped by fear.

That fear comes to rule my heart and in his way ways is more formative of ministry
