You know, Luke, I have so many ideas for books that I want to write, but actually not so much

books that I want to write, more like books that I want to exist that somebody should write.

Sometimes I think, well, well, maybe I should be the person

to write that book. But writing a book is a bit like living in a house. If there's something

foundationally wrong with that house, if there's a hole in the roof, you're going to have

some trouble. So I remember a couple years ago, I had this great

idea. I thought, nobody's ever written a book about Gerard Damiano. I thought, I think I'm going to say

Gerard Desoard de Pard Dapard. And I was like, well, I'm pretty sure someone has wrote a book on him.

There's no better person to write a book about in the year 2024 than Gerard

Departu. International. That's going to be my next comment. Internationally beloved, completely

unproblematic. Now, I had a thought of writing a book called The Films of Gerard Damiano.

Gerard Damiano was sort of the Ingmar Bergman of porn. He was one of the American

porn directors who sought in the 1970s to create art. He, more than anyone, he was the one that the

Bert Reynolds character in Boogie Nights was based on, right down to the bad toupee and the facial hair. I like your choice of words.

I like that you say more than anyone, he sought to create art. You didn't say he created art.

Well, I don't know. I would say Gerard DiMiano has like a solid seven or eight movies that he made that

deserve serious consideration. The Devil and Miss Jones, memories within Miss

Aggie, skinflicks, the satisfiers of Alpha Blue. There's actually a great clip you can look up of

Quentin Tarantino talking about his beef with boogie nights. He likes boogie nights, but there's a clip

where he says he obviously based that character on Gerard Damiano.

And Gerard Damiano was a good director.

He didn't make that cop shit that he's making in the movie.
