Summary

I recently received an email from Shameless Mom Rachel that brought me to tears. She talked about her experience with Postpartum Depression and suicidal ideation and how The Shameless Mom Academy has been part of her healing. Her words of gratitude were humbling, to say the least.    Rachel’s email inspired me to create this episode on gratitude. I am so grateful Rachel shared her story. Her story will help Shameless Moms, for sure. Our stories connect us to each other and inspire us to reach out of our comfort zones. Our stories are essential for learning and healing and growing. This is why I share so many of my stories.    In addition to my gratitude for Rachel’s story, I want to share 10 ways gratitude can improve your life. If you think gratitude is a little too “woowoo” for you, this list is for you!    Last, but not least, I want to share my friend Scott Colby’s upcoming event, The Ultimate Gratitude Challenge. Scott will be sharing interviews with 35 of his colleagues (myself included) over the course of 35 days. Scott’s interviews are all about how gratitude helped people out of addiction, loss and grief to improve self worth, relationships and overall quality of life. Scott has a fabulous line up of interviewees. This entire summit is online and free.    Links Mentioned: Article: The 31 Benefits of Gratitude You Didn’t Know About: How Gratitude Can Change Your Life  Scott Colby’s Ultimate Gratitude Challenge Shameless Mom Interview with Jen Briggs   Learn more about your ad choices. 0:12.6

and other passionate, dedicated moms, the tools you need to bridge the gap between motherhood

0:16.9

and living the life of your dreams. I'm also here to help you be a little more shameless

0:21.4

every day because if you aren't building a life, you're extraordinarily proud of. What kind of

0:26.1

legacy are you building? So let's dive in. Hello, shameless moms. I'm extremely grateful to be

0:32.5

here today. I have to say that if we're going to do an episode on gratitude, right? So in all reality, though,

0:38.1

I am very grateful and I'm excited to talk about gratitude for a few different reasons. So first of all,

0:42.3

I got this incredible email from one of my shameless moms, one of you all, about a week ago. And I

0:49.3

want to share it with you all today because it really touched me. It also totally made me cry. So we'll see if I

0:54.5

can get through reading it without losing it. And then in addition to that, a friend of

1:00.1

mine, Scott Colby, is getting ready to launch his gratitude project, which I'm going to share

1:06.8

with you because I'm actually participating in this project with him. And then the third reason

1:11.6

is gratitude is just such a big part of my life right now with us going through everything with IVF.

1:17.7

We've had so many people reach out and just hold us in their thoughts and their prayers and

1:23.7

just be amazing caretakers of our hearts and our feelings. And that's been just, it's made what could be a really grueling,

1:31.8

horrible, frustrating, exhausting experience.

1:35.6

It's made it actually something that I will, I will never forget.

1:38.6

So I'm very grateful for those things today.

1:40.9

So I want to start off with the letter.

1:44.0

So this is the email I got a few weeks ago,

1:46.7

or I'm sorry, a week ago. This comes from Rachel. She's a listener, and I'm just going to dive
