Hello ghost family welcome to family ghosts

One of the things that you've heard us do this year on the show is

Experiment more than we ever had previously

with narratives that take multiple episodes to unfold.

And part of the inspiration for that process is one of our show's former producers,

Jean-Yelle Casner.

Jean-Yelle and I worked very closely on seasons 2 and 3 of Family Ghosts.

She is among other things an extremely talented playwright.

And since so many of our episodes in seasons 2 and 3 were so heavily scripted,

I found her narrative counsel to be invaluable.

She had such a keen ear for which characters in our stories needed to feel more present,

or in some cases less present.

In particular, in our series on the Love Family,

it was Jean-Yelle who pushed for the increased prominence of a woman named Jail,

the midwife in the Love Family,

who was responsible for preserving the birth records,

at great personal peril of the children born into the Love Family.

So it was with great interest when I found out about a podcast Jean-Yelle herself was producing,

called Untitled Dad Project.

It is one family ghost's style story that unfolds over an entire season.
