Welcome to the Happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. One of the great joys of life for me is

0:13.5

meeting and getting to know people who have lived a rich and full life and lived it well. I bet if I asked you right now to pause listening to

0:23.1

this podcast and think about someone in your life who have you met, who have you known,

0:29.1

who towards the end of the life was living well. I don't mean riches. I don't mean success,

0:35.3

but I mean in their heart. They were young at heart, they were vibrant,

0:39.5

and they were joyful. I think we all know people like this. When I decided to do this podcast

0:45.7

on The Art of Staying Young while Growing Old, I started thinking about the people that I've known

1:33.3

At the time I met him, he was in his 80s, and the last time I saw him, he was 91 years old.

1:38.3

He had his PhD, and his job at the monastery was to be the librarian.

1:43.3

He kept track of all the books and made sure they were in

1:45.8

order. But though he was 91 years old the last time I met him, he had such a beautiful, youthful,

1:53.0

vibrant soul. It was just amazing to know him. And as I said, we became fast friends. And maybe because

2:00.8

I'm a psychologist and he knew that,

2:03.3

he enjoyed talking to me about his life and what happened during his life. And he had many
