Good morning once again. Welcome back to the morning mindset. I want to talk to you today

about habits. Habits. You know, those things that we kind of do on autopilot.

There are good habits and there are bad habits.

I remember as a kid I was guilty of chewing my nails all the time

fighting my nails even to the point I would chew on the skin around the nails it means kind of gross and that's probably a little bit too much information

But it's an example of the kind of things we get into in life that can be destructive from a habitual

sense. But there are also some very positive things we can do when it comes to

habits and the scriptures are not silent about

this issue of habits. In fact, all of scripture is designed to encourage us toward

constructive habits, habits that nurture and foster a greater

sense of spiritual growth in our lives, a closer relationship to God. We've been

reading the book Humility by Andrew Murray and in it Andrew brings up this issue of habits and how it relates to the character trait of humility.

I want to read you a short little passage from his chapter on humility and exultation is what

is called as chapter 12 of his book and I find this to be a very very insightful comment. He says we

know the law of human nature that acts produce habits, Habits breed dispositions and dispositions form the will and

It is not otherwise in the work of grace as acts persistently repeated beget habits in dispositions and these strengthen the will God who works both to will and to do comes with his

because I want us to think a little bit more deeply about this issue of humility.
