Welcome to the J. Scott Outdoors podcast. Today we have my friend Lance Kronberger of Freelance Outdoor Adventures and Cinder River Lodge and we're going to be talking about Alaska. Lance, how you doing?

Doing great.

Last time I saw you, you had a crew of guys and we're hiking out of our sheep camp, headed to the next sheep camp after an awesome hunt there in

the Chugatch where you and your guys put Darin and I on a beautiful ram and had a phenomenal hunt.

That was an awesome trip that I'll never forget.

How was the hunt after I left you?

The hunts were good, you know, you got to see firsthand, you know, our challenges usually weather related so you know we went from bad

weather in the chugash to bad weather in the toke and we were able to find a nice nine-year-old ram up there but you know that's

always our that's our biggest struggle is fighting the weather and hoping that it

just clears up enough that we can be successful.

Yeah, you know, Darn, I still talk about what an adventure that was and hiking in the

chugach and getting that awesome ram and just the experience and the chugatch is an

amazingly rough place, very, very rugged and I got to see it firsthand for sure. Let's back up a second. We've done a

podcast before with you and but I think we should do this for the people that maybe haven't heard that and get kind of a broad spectrum of or a broad view of what you do at Freelance Outdoor Adventures and Cinder River Lodge.

So can you give us kind of an overview of your operation there in Alaska?

All right, well, you know, the one thing is, you know, if you're going to be a, if you're going to be an

outfitter flash guide full-time, it's one of those things, you know, it's the age-old conundrum what do you do the rest of the year and so we

We kind of made our business to where we could guide as much as possible. So we travel

throughout the state following the seasons on areas that we thought were

had great great trophy quality and had high probability of success.

So basically our year starts out in the spring.

We do Kodiak Brown Bear Hunts on Kodiak Island on the south end of the island.
