by the end of the last episode, both the Federals and the Confederates were positioning their forces

for the start of the campaign. But on the rebel side, on May 5th and 6th,

Joe Johnston decided to change his deployment.

Knowing that the Bishop General Leonidas Polk's troops were on their way to Blue Mountain,

and having received reports that the Yankees in North Alabama were moving northeast up the Tennessee River

toward Chattanooga rather than southeast toward Rome, Johnston decided to shift even more of his

strength to the northern end of his line. Johnston therefore ordered the two rebel cavalry

brigades at Rosaka to join the rest of Wheeler's
