This is Greg. Tom is not here this week.

So today on the show, it's just going to be you and me

and we're going to have a couple beers at one of New York's most venerated institutions

to getting trashed in the city.

That would be McSorley's old ill house.

The city has very few places like McSorley's, a downtown saloon at 15 East Seventh Street,

which has been open for over 150 years and looks and feels every bit of it.

It's been the muse of painters and writers and has entertained celebrities and politicians

and most every other profession for that matter.

This is not any old bar.

McSorley's looks to be stuck in some shifting era between the late 19th century and the

early 20th century.

Everything in it has this like amber glow to it from old age and dust and who knows what.

There's no music outside of some inevitable drunken singing in the mac room.

What greets you instead is an old wooden bar with no stools.
