Now we have lived through the gravest national emergency since World War II.

Around 1 in 500 people over the last year have been killed by COVID-19, one of the worst

disasters on the face of the planet during the course of this nightmare.

Now a new book is out called Failures of State by two excellent journalists Sunday times,

Jonathan Calvert and George Arbathonock.

And this book looks in devastating detail about how the British government turned what would

always be a very difficult situation into one of the worst catastrophes on the face

of the earth.

From the very beginning it pieces together, the story, it's like a horror film, I mean

we know we've lived through misery but just seeing how the government failed at every single

possible opportunity, delaying lockdown over and over again, making sure that we ended

up with longer more protracted lockdowns, worse economic devastation and a bigger loss

to human life.

I won't go on because you really need to listen to this, you need to listen to these two

authors who've spent so much time speaking to so many people from the very top to the NHS,

doctors, experts, everyone.

It really is a comprehensive look at how we ended up in this terrible, terrible state.
