πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Psalm 116

I love the Lord, because he has heard
    my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Because he inclined his ear to me,
    therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
The snares of death encompassed me;
    the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
    I suffered distress and anguish.
Then I called on the name of the Lord:
    “O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
    our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple;
    when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return, O my soul, to your rest;
    for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

For you have delivered my soul from death,
    my eyes from tears,
    my feet from stumbling;
I will walk before the Lord
    in the land of the living.

10 I believed, even when I spoke:
    “I am greatly afflicted”;
11 I said in my alarm,
    “All mankind are liars.”

12 What shall I render to the Lord
    for all his benefits to me?
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation
    and call on the name of the Lord,
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of the Lord
    is the death of his saints.
16 O Lord, I am your servant;
    I am your servant, the son of your maidservant.
    You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving
    and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the house of the Lord,
    in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!

That's why the morning mindset is here. By the way, if you're new to the morning mindset,

my name is Carrie Green. I'm a retired pastor and I still just love seeing people who call on the name of the Lord as

and that's why I record these morning mindsets.

an experience like it seems the writer of Psalm 116 is having.

You see I grew up in a church tradition where it wasn't uncommon, usually on a Sunday evening service or at a Wednesday

evening service where people would stand and give what we called a testimony.

1:00.0

It was where people would stand up and say what the Lord has done in their lives and

1:04.8

their in essence giving him praise for whatever has happened.

1:08.7

Sometimes that might have included a prayer request or some concern the person has but they would turn around and affirm that they know the Lord is helping and the Lord is at work.

1:19.0

But regardless, the point of making is there have been times throughout the history of God's people

1:25.8

where people would stand and give testament to what he's done in their lives.

1:31.0

And I believe that's what we're looking at when we look at Psalm 116. You see the
