Thanks again for listening. This is the final part of my 500th podcast celebration.

This isn't your average business podcast and he's not your average host. This is the James

0:12.0

Altiger show on the Choose Yourself Network. Today on the James Altiger show.

I go in with great preparation which allows me to be loose. But what kept you going when you thought

0:26.3

of quitting because I had nothing to fall back on. I dropped out of school. My dad always

0:31.2

just said, have something to fall back on. If I had something to fall back on and I kind of liked

0:35.6

it, I might have fallen back on it. It's true. So you got to be aware of some internal trigger like,

0:43.7

oh, this doesn't feel good anymore. Right. Right. And then to remind myself, is this really how you

0:48.2

want to spend your life from the questionnaire? I was asked myself like my mom was 51 when she passed

0:52.2

away. I think, well, that's not that far into the future for me anymore. I'm turning 51 in

0:59.6

13 days. So, don't scare me. Well, and so for me, I just remember, okay, how do I, you know,

is that how I would have wanted to have spent my time? Not really. And so to just keep that bigger thing

1:12.4

1:20.0

she was 16. And she had me 17 days after her 17th birthday. So on paper, I didn't look like a very

1:28.3

good bet. You know, a little black baby born to a 17 year old black teenage girl in 1961 and

1:36.4

Detroit, Michigan, you probably wouldn't bet on that baby to have it. And that's one of the

1:41.2

remarkable things about this country is when you look at where someone starts with such

1:47.7

humble beginnings and how it changes along the way if you work hard and have faith. And I had an

1:54.8

epiphany. And I remember the hair just went up on my arms and I said, this is when I'm going to spend

2:01.6

the rest of my life doing.

2:03.5

When I started interviewing people in late 2013, I would never have thought I would have done

2:20.8

500 podcasts. This is almost the longest straight activity that I've done in my life. And the reason
