0:23.6 | Welcome to the happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Rubber Puff. On the days that I don't go to the gym or swim I like to go for walks. So the other day I was going for one of my walks and I noticed in one of the cars that I walked by there were keys sticking out of the door. While I looked around to see if anyone was coming back, |
0:26.0 | I looked in the car to see if there was anyone inside. |
0:28.8 | And I didn't see anyone, so finally I grabbed the keys, |
0:32.0 | open up the door, and put the keys on the seat on the passenger side. |
0:35.2 | Well, thankfully, it was a business van and they actually had their phone number listed on the |
0:39.5 | side of the van. |
0:40.7 | So I called the number and told them what I did. |
0:43.0 | Several hours later, I got a really nice text from the lady who owned the van, |
0:48.0 | thanking me for putting the keys inside the van and leaving them there. |
0:51.0 | And I admit, after giving that nice message it felt good because what I could |
0:56.1 | have done is just left the keys in the car I could have done nothing or if I |
1:00.6 | felt like being more of a scoundrel that day I could have opened up the car and seeing if there was anything to steal. |
1:06.0 | If I really wanted to be nefarious, I could have taken the keys and thrown them away so they wouldn't have them ever again. |
1:12.0 | Or even driven off with the car, thinking that I could |
1:15.2 | get away with it. |
1:16.2 | Obviously, I wouldn't do any of those things. |
1:19.4 | So usually what I think about when I'm in these situations is what would I want |
1:23.0 | want the other person to do if I was in that situation if I |
1:26.3 | lift my keys in my car door I couldn't go to the person's house because it was |
1:30.4 | parked on the street and there are a lot of homes around there so I didn't know who |
1:33.6 | the car belonged to. But I was quite sure that if I put the keys on the passenger's seat and then |
1:38.4 | left her a message, her car would be safe and she wouldn't have anything to worry about. |
