The holiday season is vast upon us and regardless of what holiday you celebrate and maybe Christmas and may be Hanukkah maybe you've just

given up and you don't celebrate anything this can be a very joyous time of year and it can

also be extremely traumatic.

Boundaries are hard this time of year

because there's lots of family events,

there's lots of things that are expected of you.

Alternatively, if you're separated or you're divorced,

it can be a very lonely time of year.

The amount of family time or the amount of events is drastically reduced.

That's how it is with me.

There are not a lot of family events for me during the holiday season. My kids will be gone for Christmas

this year and I will be by myself. So I need to think about some holiday traditions and

things that I can do to practice self-care during this difficult time.

The other issue during this holiday season is that therapists or other support groups are kind of off and on.

And so getting a therapy appointment if you have a traumatic event happen is really hard and also what if you're with family in a different state?
