Welcome to the Lord of the Rings lorecast, the show that explores the background of Tolkien's amazing world from the very beginning. So I'm sure a number of you are wondering, when are we going to get to elves?

This is five episodes in.

We've been discussing the creation of the world, the valar, the spirits and powers underneath everything in the lore.

But isn't the Lord of the Rings all about stories about men and elves and dwarves and hobbits, all of these different races and middle earth.

What's with all these spirits and powers and gods and things like that?

Well, we have to remember, right?

At the beginning of the story, there are vast time periods that go by that are all about the forming of the world and the things that

happen. This is the way Tolkien designed it. But I know, I know. The stories about the elves and

the men and the dwarves and all of those things, that's the meat of the story. That's where we

come in. That's where we join the adventures

that's the story of the hobbit the lord of the rings that's the stuff that we can relate to

the coming of the elves is such an important part of the story that it could not have been explained in a vacuum.
