Hello from Siena I'm a Falma Dikai with the five things you need to know for Monday, August 28th.

We begin with former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who testified today in a hearing

to move his Georgia election subversion case to federal court.

Meadows argued to have his case moved from states of federal court because his actions after

the 2020 election were part of his job as a White House official and the prosecution pressed medals on that.

They asked him about a phone call he had with former President Donald Trump and Georgia's

Secretary of State Brad Raffinsberger in January 2021. On that call, Trump asked Raffinsberger to quote,

find enough votes to win Georgia. Prosecutors have repeatedly highlighted that Meadows

included pro-Trump lawyers on that call who were not federal employees.

Meadows said multiple times that he could not recall who he reached out to set up the call.

Meadows also got somewhat frustrated when prosecutors asked why his role would include

setting up a call to settle a private lawsuit. Tropical Storm Edalia is

prompting evacuations along Florida's Gulf Coast ahead of its expected landfall as a category 3 Hurricane

Wednesday. The storm could also move inland, bringing damaging winds and heavy rain to Georgia

and the Carolinas. Storm surge, wind and rain will affect much of the Florida

Gulf Coast. Here's CNN meteorologist Chad Myers. There will be hundreds of
