November 2nd. The Israeli military says it's surrounding Gaza City and

quote deepening its operations there. Its spokesperson says 242 hostages including Americans

are being held in Gaza by Hamas which launched a terror attack on October 7th.

While efforts to free hostages have been complicated, since Israel expanded its ground operations,

Israel has said the offensive puts more pressure on Hamas. Today, the military says they killed

130 militants so far during fighting in the Gaza Strip.

Secretary of State Anthony Blaken will make his first stop in Israel during a

strip to the Middle East and Asia.

He says he'll discuss steps Israel quote,

can and should take to minimize civilian casualties. He says he'll discuss steps Israel, quote,

We will be talking about concrete steps
