Hello from CNN, I'm Anna Sturlow with the five things you need to know for Monday, September 18th.

The five Americans freed from Iran are now en route to the U.S.

That's according to a US official and a

source familiar with the matter. The US government said they have been

wrongfully detained. Also on the flight out with them, two relatives who were

previously unable to leave Iran.

It means that husbands and wives, fathers and children,

grandparents can hug each other again, can see each other again, can be with each other again.

That Secretary of State Anthony Blinkin, under the agreement between the U.S. and Iran, six billion dollars in Iranian funds that were held in restricted South Korean accounts have now been transferred to restricted accounts in Qatar, with the Biden administration stressing Iran can only use the funds for

humanitarian purchases, monitored by the U.S. Treasury Department.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is once again grappling with a split within his own party overspending.

Reporters on Capitol Hill asked the speaker today if he was feeling pressure to work with

Democrats.

This isn't the 30th.

We've got a long ways to go. We've got a lot of different ideas. I'm for a lot of

different ideas. Whatever gets us to be able to get through? McCarthy went on to say that

he thinks the GOP can prevent a shutdown and settle the issue within the party.

On Sunday, CNN reported that a group of six House Republicans, a mix of far right and

Centrists, had finalized a tentative deal on a short-term spending plan.

But that immediately got pushback from multiple House members.

McCarthy can only afford to lose four votes on that deal without relying on Democrats,

and some in his party are threatening to oust him.
