Hey everyone.

Hey everyone. Emily Abadi here. You are listening to Five Minute Friday from Hurtall. I am feeling a lot better than the beginning of the week. My voice has returned after cheering for friends and loved ones and complete strangers at the Chicago Marathon. And it's been a really great week.

0:39.3

I'm feeling really motivated and excited now that that's behind me with less than three

0:45.1

weeks to go until the New York Marathon.

0:48.0

And what I want to talk about today is this thought process I'm having around the concept of embracing my own potential. I am at a

1:00.0

point right now where I have no interest necessarily doing things that I did when I was in my

1:07.8

20s or early 30s. And this specifically pertains to running. I am pretty confident

1:14.2

that my days of running sub 330 marathons are behind me. I am so content with the ability to chase my

1:23.6

1:58.7

in a number, but rather it's really rooted in a feeling. I want to feel so strong

2:06.1

and so powerful and really embrace all of this gratitude I have for this process and my city

2:13.1

and the people that show up on that day. I want to get to the finish line, ideally without hitting

2:19.5

that wall that we love so much, and have a great freaking time out there. That is my goal. That is it.

2:29.4

And would I mind snagging some sort of a personal best on the course in the process? Of course not.

2:37.3

But realistically speaking, I want to have a good time. I want to do what I didn't do in 2021.

2:44.9

When I totally bonked at Mile 8, I want to see my people and feel the energy and not be so dialed into my

2:55.4

splits and worrying about whatever it is that my watch says. I just want to experience it in

3:02.5

all of its amazingness and remind myself and bathe in this feeling that I get to do it.
