What's going on, everyone, Emily Abadi here. You are listening to Five Minute Friday

from Hurtle. Happy Valentine's Day. I might be the person, uh, the first person that said that to you

today. Maybe I'm not, but I want to talk a little bit about my journey with this holiday today.

I can't tell you the last time that I had an actual Valentine as in like a romantic partner on Valentine's Day.

Actually, that's a lie.

I can.

I'm pretty sure it was maybe like 2014, 2015. I was dating someone and I came home from work on

Valentine's Day and he was in my apartment. He had been let in by my roommate at the time.

And he was making chocolate covered strawberries in the kitchen. And he had

bought me as a gift for Valentine's Day a ladle, which was a practical gift in that I needed a

ladle at the time. But in retrospect, I can say that without a doubt, it was not the gift

that I was hoping for. Oh my God. I'm just having a time

thinking back to this. Valentine's Day. Still, okay, so that was, I don't know, nine, ten years ago.

And I have a positive association with the day regardless. I know a lot of people are or may feel

some kind of way about this Hallmark holiday. But I feel as though what an awesome time it is

for us to think on and focus on the good things that love brings into our lives,

especially over, you know, the last handful of years, I would say throughout my 30s,

I have come into my own with self-love and practically feeling so much appreciation for

what it is that I bring to the table and how hard it is some days simply to just show up and

be. Right. Every year on Valentine's Day, I have the same tradition,

which is after whatever morning workout that I do today, I have mile repeats, which I'm not

...
