What is going on, everyone? Emily Boddie here bringing you five minute Friday. And I am here to close the loop on something. Now if you're an avid listener to five minutes,

listener to five minute Friday, then you may recall that I shared a couple of details about a date that I went on like now at this point over a month and a half ago. And in the tidbit that I shared, it was in response to a listener question that asked me if there had been a particular conversation that really resonated with me lately.

0:51.0

I'll link to this episode of five minute Friday in the show notes. But basically, what happened is I went on this date, it didn't shake out. And I really started to get in my head a lot about, I mean, a lot of things. But in particular, I started to create this story in my head that many of us create when we maybe dating.

1:17.0

And it's like, maybe I wasn't good enough for him, which is bullshit, right? Like it's, I just need to make sure that we establish us up front. Whoever it is that's going to be the right person for me and whoever is the right person for you, if you haven't found them yet, like this partner will recognize your awesomeness because there's a lot of awesomeness that you have within you. And if someone doesn't see how great that you are, then you're there.

1:46.0

They're, they're not your person. Anyway, naturally, however, I got a little down in the dumps. And I was just navigating all the feelings that go hand in hand with this internal struggle that I've been having that I am so attracted to someone that is well established in their career.

2:07.0

Perhaps they have made some sort of name for themselves in their industry. And I am also equally intimidated by this person. And so when this particular man told me that he just wasn't in the place to pursue anything, so to speak, I was like, what am I doing here?

2:30.0

Like how am I equally attracted to, but also like frightened by these quasi successful humans. And like, yeah, I just really had a moment, maybe a few moments, maybe a little too many moments, fretting about this.

2:49.0

Anyway, I started to tell myself all these stories in my mind in my head that little voice was like not kind that day.

2:58.0

That's what we're doing Thursday morning. I am on a run. It's six like 35 in the morning. I don't want to necessarily be on this run, but I told myself that I was going to go out and do it.

3:14.0

I'm out on the run and I swear I swear I swear I swear I run by him and it's literally six 35 in the morning. And he's chatting to another guy on the street, which like funny time to run into someone on the street.

3:27.0

I run by both of them. I swear it was him. And I get to the next block and I stop and I like do a double take and I'm like, it has to be him.

3:37.0

I go on to my destination, you know, with some friends come home by myself, some sunflowers and a nice coffee, which is my like almost forever gift to myself after I conquer the hardest workout of the week, which in my mind is a temple run.

3:53.0

And I'm like, you know what? I'm just going to text this guy.

3:58.0

Oh, man. So I text him and I'm like, I swear I ran by you on a fault in this morning. Hope you're doing well.

4:07.0

Because in his little closure note to me, which was a voice note, he said that he'd love to be friends, which like 99.9% of the time when a man has told me that he wants to be friends.

4:18.0

I'm like, I don't think I'm going to run with this one. I think I'm going to fall back. I've got some good friends, you know.

4:26.0

He messages me. He's like, well, I think it's probably impossible for me to be in the same place at two times. And I was definitely home at that time, although the guy that you ran by must have been really good looking.

4:40.0

Anyway, we go on to chat a little bit and I told him I almost sent him a text after I released the episode of the five minute Friday where I mentioned that I told all of you about the conversation that we had about red flags is what the conversation was about.

4:56.0

And he was like, why did you almost send me a text? And so I told him that usually when someone says that they want to be friends after you want to date with them that they don't really want to be friends and they're just trying to be kind.

5:10.0

Anyway, he tells me he's like, I understand where you're coming from. I'd really love to hear your thoughts about like how everything had gone down from your perspective.

5:20.0

You should know that to be honest, my response to us being friends was had nothing to do with you.

5:28.0

And I really realized after our date that I just wasn't ready to date again after my last relationship.
