Summary

Why not be an ally instead of a competitor? Why are we so tempted to hide from people who share our experience? In today's episode, I'm talking about the privilege of supporting others and answering a listener question about advice I wish I had before my first half-marathon.

Hey everybody, Emily Abadi here.

0:23.3

You are listening to Five Minute Friday from Hurtle.

0:27.0

That's how I feel. You know, I have been on a whirlwind of travel over the last two quarters

0:38.6

honestly. Q1 was crazy, Q2 is about halfway done now and I am sitting in my Los Angeles

0:47.6

hotel room as I record this and it feels a little surreal that this is the end of that

0:55.4

for now. At this point in time, I don't have anything else lined up for the summer until

1:02.7

really August and that does not mean that nothing will happen. I am sure things are about

1:09.1

to pop up. But in the meantime, I'm feeling a little nostalgic about everything that has

1:14.0

1:53.8

me, for people that I am so honored to be their cheerleader. And tonight I had the opportunity to

2:00.2

get together with another podcaster. Her name is Les Alfred. You've heard her on the show before.

2:05.7

She has a podcast called Balance Black Girl. And it was so special for me because someone asked

2:12.2

me earlier this week if I keep in contact, talk with often other podcasters. And the answer is

2:20.1

to be candid, not really. As A and I've said this before, solopreneur, sometimes what I'm doing

2:25.8

can be a bit lonely. And I think that is why I really do enjoy the opportunity to host live events

2:32.5

because in hosting live events, I then have the chance to connect IRL with others, especially

2:38.9

after the pandemic that feels even more special than ever. And so tonight sitting with Les and

2:44.6

talking about so many of the different scenarios that another podcaster would actually understand,
