Summary

This week on the Feminists Don't Wear Pink podcast, Scarlett Curtis meets actor Keira Knightley whose raw piece on childbirth in the book attracted so much attention last year when the media immediately pitted against the Duchess of Cambridge who gave birth on the same day.

As well as discussing this pervasive media stereotype of female competition, Keira shares her experiences of shame, sexual objectification and motherhood.

female celebrities were picked apart from the bone by magazines, paparazzi and press, Kira became public property.

It's an experience that would have broken most teenage girls and did break a lot of

teenage girls at the time, but Kira's not your regular woman.

She has emerged into adulthood as one of the most intelligent and impressive actresses

and voices of her generation. And I hope that listening to this, you will be as obsessed with her as I am.

When I asked Kira to write something for feminists don't wear pink, I never thought she would do it.
