Helen is probably best known as the author of the 1996 novel Bridget Jones' diary,

which, alongside its sequel, sold over 15 million copies in 40 countries

and was named one of the 10 novels that defined the 20th century.

In a 2004 poll, Helen was named the 29th most influential person in British culture,
