When Joe Dousay bought a new house in Catona, New York, he had one goal in mind, make it as eco-friendly as possible.

So as a designer and inventor, he started wondering, what color should I paint the house,

meaning not just as an aesthetic choice, but what could it do in terms of impacting my, you know,

energy consumption and therefore, you know, the ultimate impact that it would have

in the environment.

So Joe 3D printed mini-scale models of his home and tested how different paint colors

handled heat.

The black model stayed warmer in the winter and the white paint model was cooler in the

summer.

So the ideal color is both.
