Five behaviors that push the Holy Spirit away. Have you ever felt that God was close and then something changed?

You're still saved, you still believe, but this tenderness has gone. The fire is low. The presence feels distant.

Let me say this clearly. The Holy Spirit is not super fragile, but he is holy. He's not leaving

like an offended friend, but the scripture does warn us not to grieve him, not to quench him,

and not to resist him.

And today I want to talk about these five behaviors that push the Holy Spirit away.

And this is not to shame or condemn you, but it's to cause you to protect what is precious.

Because many of us are always asking for more of God's presence while practicing habits that actually drive

him away or push him away. Now I want to show you the scripture where it says in Ephesians

chapter 4 verse 30, do not grieve the spirit of God. In 1st Solonians chapter 5 verse 19 it says do not quench

the spirit of God. And then in Book of Acts chapter 7,

verse 51, it says, people can resist the Holy Spirit. Now I want you to notice that Ephesians,

Thessalonians, and the people that Stephen addressed were people that were connected to God.

These were people who were in covenant with God and they could still treat the Spirit of God in this matter.

And so this issue we have to keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is attracted to holiness,

he's attracted to humility, he's attracted to our hunger and also our honor.

When we tolerate behaviors that are opposite, it actually pushes him away.

Let's look at these five behaviors.

The first one is when we allow hidden sin with no repentance.

The fastest way to lose sensitivity to the Holy Spirit is to keep your sin

private and call it small. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. He convicts us,
