Billy Sheehan. What are some things we can say about Billy Sheehan, this amazing human being?

Well, for one, he's our guest this week on episode five of No Guitar Is Safe. Two, he's not a

guitarist. Well, he does play guitar quite well. He is, three, a bass player. Now,

he's no ordinary bass player. In fact, if there's one bass player that deserves to be on this show,

it's probably Billy Sheehan. First of all, his style is so innovative. Starts off on hard rock,

goes in so many different directions, and it has so much in common with guitar players.

Man, does he have sort of a synergy with us guitarists?

He plays harmonics, he bends strings, he plays with distortion half the time, literally.

He does tap notes and giant strummed chords.

I mean, come on, it's a man after our own hearts. But the other

big reason he deserves to be on the show is that he has had such an amazing career sharing the

stage in the studio and having head cut and duels with some of the world's greatest guitarists. For instance,

Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert. He'll get into all of those years, you know, the David Lee Roth years

and the Mr. Big Years, and also his new band, The Winery Dogs, featuring the amazing Richie

Cotson. Love that guy, soulful player, soulful rocker, soulful singer. And they have a new album
