The year is rapidly drawing to a close, and so is this day.

It's not quite midnight, but it's later than I had hoped.

I'm trying to change my

nocturnal habits, but it's a slow slog. And any time I can postpone going to sleep without

Chris, it's kind of a good thing. So I'm working on it. I want to acknowledge that just a few days ago we celebrated Veterans Day.

And I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all veterans.

I'm so grateful for the men and women who have literally put their lives on the line to give this service to their countries.

And, I mean, what we say, we have all kinds of t-shirts and bumper stickers that express this thought, but it's never enough, right?

When we say that, like, freedom isn't free, or we say the land of the free

because of the brave. And all of those expressions touch me deeply. And I'm so grateful for

all those who have served in wars to defend freedoms and defend their families and their countries.

I'm so touched by that commitment to serve and hope that we always, remember the veterans, it's always difficult to hear of ways

that our system has failed veterans. There are ways that we can contribute to charitable organizations

that try to step up and fill some of that gap.

And I would encourage you to look into those that are reputable and

where the money is going, you know, for the most part,

not to the administration of the charity,

but that it is going actually to serve our veterans.

Because I think in many ways the country owes them much more

than the country gives.
