I'm back in plenary session and I'm joined via Zoom by Dr. Michael Brett Howard.

Professor Brett Hower is a professor of medicine gastroenterology at the University of Oslo, Norway.

He is also the first author of the Nordic study, the randomized controlled trial of colonoscopy,

the first ever randomized trial of colonoscopy as colon cancer screening.

And it's a pleasure to speak with him this morning.

Thank you so much for doing this.

Problem.

So I wanted to start by talking a little bit about, I think,

I had the chance to read your paper, and I think it's

an important and superb contribution of the literature. I also had a chance to read your back

catalog. I worked my way through some of your editorials and publications over the last few years,

and I must say, I feel very aligned with you. I feel like we think similarly. And I think the reason is

that we have a similar core philosophy, which is evidence-based medicine. And if you have that

philosophy and you take it to its conclusion, you will come to these kinds of points of view.

So I wonder if we might start first with the United States Preventive Services Task Force decision a few years ago.

You have written a brilliant editorial in the Annals of Internal Medicine, of which you're an associate editor,

discussing the USPSTF's decision to issue the following recommendation.

Now, they could have said, we recommend you do one of the two things that have

randomized trial data supporting reduction in colorectal cancer death, but instead they recommended
