But a couple of weeks ago, we had our first run in with a Juan Soto non-hustle situation.

And I downplayed it because most players don't hustle on every groundball to shortstop or groundball

to second base.

And I said it's actually rare when you see guys do it constantly.

And what I said at the time was there are certain situations where you expect the hustle.

While others, it's like, yeah, you'd like it, but it is what it is.

Last night, in the top of the eighth inning of a tie game, in which it's probably going to be your last

plate appearance in a ballpark that has treated you like an axe murderer all weekend long,

I get it's a check swing. But when you hit a ball up the middle and DJ LaMayhew is making a diving attempt,

how you're not busting it is beyond me.

Right.

And I almost think that when you're slumping the way Soto has been, at least to his standards,

you'd smell the hit more than if you're red hot.

Yeah.

I think one of the challenges with Juan Soto is that he's not like an elite speedster athlete.

Now he hasn't been caught yet stealing a base, has he?

And he's had some big stolen bases like over the weekend.
