This is a Fox News alert. A deadly shooting just blocks from the White House.

I'm Lisa Brady. West Virginia's governor just confirming that both National Guard members who were shot in D.C. this afternoon were from his state and that both have died.

It is not known yet what led to the shooting. Vice President J.D. Vance moments ago.

Soldiers, whether they're active duty, reserve, or national guard, our soldiers are the sword

and the shield of the United States of America.

The vice president speaking during a visit to Kentucky's Fort Campbell that was already underway,

asking for prayers for the Guard members

that was just before West Virginia's governor confirmed they had died from their injuries.

President Trump, who's in Florida for Thanksgiving, had posted earlier that the Guard

troops were critically wounded and that a suspect was also in the hospital, severely wounded.

The president calling that person an animal and vowing they would face justice,

also calling military and law enforcement personnel truly great people.

Again, the shooting happened near a subway station not far from the White House.

This would be on the north side of the White House.

The helicopter takes off on the south side where we see those pictures all the time. This will be the north side about two blocks from there, not too far from some of the better hotels in the area. We're just about a block or so away from the St. Regis, as well as the number of government buildings. But it would traditionally be pretty quiet this time of day because it's a holiday weekend. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi just confirming that federal

agents are on the scene. The FAA says normal flight operations are resuming at D.C.'s

Reagan National Airport after temporarily pausing arrivals because of the locations of some

aircraft involved in responding to the shooting. Again, for now, the shooting's under investigation,

but West Virginia's governor confirming the two guard members shot today in D.C. were West Virginia

guard members and both have died. Wall Street rallies the Dow up 314 at the bell.
