Good morning and welcome to 49ers in 5, your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know.

I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Thursday, April 2nd, 26. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers. As the league meetings wrap up

in Phoenix, I've begun to sort through some of the things the non-49ers coaches had to say,

and I found two of them that I thought you would like. First, let's start with Texans head coach

to Miko Ryans, who explained what the 49ers are getting in new wide receiver,

Christian Kirk.

Christian Kirk is outstanding human, great young man, really provided a lot to our locker room

from a leadership standpoint of helping out.

We had a lot of young receivers this past year.

I thought Christian did a really good job of helping out those young guys.

They're able to lean on him to gain some of his insight and the experience that he's had from being a pro for a while.

He can still make a lot of plays for you.

A guy who can really stress the field, making plays, also can do it from a slight perspective of running some of the choice routes and winning

and man coverage.

So you're getting a really talented veteran guy who's a really good locker room leader as well.

Shanahan said during his media session that he likes having, quote, men in the wide receiver

room, guys that have proven track records of production over a long

period of time that is exactly what they are getting in Christian Kirk. Let's hope this one-year

experiment pays dividends. Also, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer peeled back the curtain on what

it was like when he had to tell defensive tackle Osa Odigizua that he was being traded to the 49ers. Anytime you go through a scheme change, there's going to be adjustments where you move on from an incredible person and incredible leader in Osa. That was one of the hard ones. I'm happy to share with you guys. I we both wept on the phone together. It was hard. That's the nature of the business and I'm thrilled that he's going to a place that is a great fit for him. That's the

human side of the business, right? Osa had friends, had relationships in Dallas and those are

going to be affected in a major way, right? We've all had friends that we worked with where when
