Good morning and welcome to 49ers in 5, your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know.

I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Monday, February 2nd, 26. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers. The first big domino of the

0:23.7

Niners offseason has reportedly fallen, according to multiple sources. Rahim Morris is going to

0:28.9

become the 49ers next defensive coordinator. He's spent the last three years as head coach of the

0:34.5

Atlanta Falcons. Before that, Morris was Sean McVeigh's defensive coordinator

0:38.4

in L.A., including during their Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals. This will be the fourth time

0:44.8

that Kyle Shanahan and Rahim Morris have worked together. The first was with the Bucks in 2004 and

0:49.5

2005, then again in Washington in 2012 and 2013, and the third time was with the Falcons in 2015 and 2016.

Now, this isn't a huge departure scheme-wise from what the 49ers have run throughout the

1:02.8

Kyle Shanahan era. Morris still heavily favors zone defenses as opposed to man, but there

1:12.3

He has experience running the 3-4, but also a 4-3 defense and a bunch of other fronts as well.

1:18.8

He is not afraid to switch up and do different things at different times. He also blitzes more than the 49ers

1:25.5

usually do. Morris's defenses have blitzed at least 5% more than the 49ers do every year since 2021,

1:33.2

including 15% more last year.

1:36.2

The Falcons posted a 35% pressure rate and the fourth best sack percentage in the league

1:41.8

last season.

1:43.5

So with Morris in the fold, what happens with Gus Bradley?

1:47.7

Remember, he was sort of the defensive coordinator in waiting.

1:51.3

Obviously, that's not going to happen now.

1:53.3

Well, Albert Breer said it's possible Gus Bradley could find his way either to Tennessee

1:57.9

with the Titans and Robert Sala or with the Cardinals, who of course
